ALLERGY TESTING AND TREATMENT

At Dr. Mahajan’s Clinic, an allergy test can be conducted in one of three ways:

  • Prick test- Where your skin will be pricked to expose you to tiny amounts of the proteins found in possible allergens. If you do turn out to be allergic to any of these allergens, you’ll likely develop hives at the tested area of the skin
  • Blood test- Where a Specific blood testing is conducted to measure the quantity of allergy-causing antibodies in your bloodstream. A blood sample of yours will be sent to our medical laboratory, where it can be tested for evidence of sensitivity to possible allergens. Results of such tests are received with 5-7 days.
  • Patch Test- Where specific allergens will be applied to a patch on the skin which has to be left on for 24-48 hrs. If you are allergic to any of the allergens, your skin will show signs by turning red, bumpy and itchy
