PIGMENT TRANSFER FOR VITILIGO

What is Vitiligo?

Vitiligo is a skin issue in which cells called melanocytes are annihilated. These cells make melanin which provides the brown colored shade to our skin. Without melanocytes, such colour can’t be made. Individuals with vitiligo have sporadically placed patches of depigmented skin. These patches amplify over time and give a mottled appearance.

Procedure

The procedure involves implanting small units of color under the skin just like a tattoo. This is a procedure wherein minute granules of pigment are embedded underneath the epidermis for restorative or potentially remedial upgrade. Regularly two to four sessions are needed to see a change. Colours are exclusively mixed in order to match the patient’s skin tone. Immediately after the procedure a slight change is evident. However, the full results can be seen only after 2-3 weeks after the procedure

What Happens After the Procedure:

  • Inflammation in the treated area that can be treated with ice packs.
  • Improved appearance in treated area in a couple of days.
  • Full recovery of treated area in four to about a month and a half.
  • Follow-up treatment might be important in some cases
